Yvonne Rainier is on the cover of Copy No. 2. The image is taken from Liza Béar and Willoughby Sharp’s cover for Avalanche Magazine #5.

Copy, a magazine of recycled materials, welcomes submissions from writers and visual artists at all stages of their careers.

The publishers of Copy believe that plagiarism enriches human language. Plagiarism is inherent in all artistic activity, both pictorial and literary arts function with an inherited language, even when their practitioners aim at overthrowing this received syntax (as happened with modernism and post-modernism). In short, we don’t want new sentences or new images—old sentences and images, reframed or not, are good enough.

Copy No. 1 was exhibited at the San Francisco Art Book Fair, July 14-17, 2022. Copy No. 1 was reviewed by Levi Sherman at Artists’ Book Reviews, December 29, 2022.
